The Origin of Soap

Amazingly, Fight Club wasn't lying about where soap comes from. The legend goes that it was at Mount Sopa where people noticed that their clothes were cleaner if they washed them at a particular place in the river. Animal sacrifices were performed nearby and created the conditions to make a natural soap. Natural lye is made from potash, which comes from burning hard woods at high temperatures. The rendered animal fat mixed with that lye and washed down into the river.
The Babylonians invented soap in 2800 BC by mixing animals fats with potash, used to wash wool textiles.
Soap went largely unchanged until the Middle Ages saw soap that is fairly similar to today's, though it was reserved for the wealthy. Bathing went out of style for a few centuries. It wasn't until the late 1700s that soap made a return and became essentially the same as today's quality soaps, like mine.
That was until World War II. Shortages forced us to find alternatives to those wonderfully nourishing soaps. We had to use detergents. Due in large part to being cheap, those "soaps" are what most people use today. While effective at cleansing, they are not good for your skin.
Fortunately, we're here to change that. Our goal is to make natural soap that is great for your skin, cleans well, and is affordable.
